Norfolk Police Advise Businesses on Burglary Prevention
NORFOLK - An increase in commercial burglaries and thefts has been reported in Norfolk and surrounding areas, and law enforcement officers are urging business owners to take some steps to help prevent burglaries. Police Captain Michael Bauer says business owners should make sure they have adequate lighting on all sides of their buildings and parking lots, and that alarms and surveillance cameras are working properly. Bauer also recommends keeping a minimum of cash on the premises and moving valuable merchandise and business equipment away from windows and doors to prevent "smash and grab" thefts.
