Norfolk Man Sentenced On Pursuit Charges

STANTON - A 21-year-old Norfolk man has been sentenced following his conviction of operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest. Charles Laughman was arrested in July by the Stanton County Sheriff's Office following a high speed pursuit that began near Norfolk and ended up northwest of Pilger after he abandoned his car on a county road and fled on foot. Sheriff Mike Unger says he was taken into custody a short time later in a nearby field. Laughman was sentenced to one year in the county jail on Thursday. His driver's license was suspended at the time of his arrest.
