Norfolk man injured in car-motorcycle accident in serious condition

NORFOLK -  A 22-year-old Norfolk man injured in a car-motorcycle accident last night in Norfolk remains hospitalized at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
A spokesman at Mercy reports that Austin Kallhoff is in serious condition this (Monday) morning. He was flown to Mercy Medical by Life Flight helicopter, suffering from head, arm and leg injuries. According to the Norfolk Police Division, Kallhoff was headed southeast on Highway 275 on the west edge of Norfolk near Village Inn sometime after 8 last (Sunday) night when his motorcycle struck a car driven by 43-year-old Kathy Goger of Stanton. Goger was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Highway 275 from Krenzien Drive. Goger sustained an injury to her collarbone. She and her husband, Jeff, who was a passenger in the car, were both taken to Faith Regional Health Services for treatment and released.  A portion of Highway 275 was closed to traffic for some time because of the accident. A spokesman for the Norfolk Police Division says the setting sun may have been a contributing factor.  Other agencies assisting at the scene included Norfolk Fire and Rescue, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol.
