Norfolk Man Arrested for Sexual Assault

NORFOLK - A Norfolk man has been arrested for sexual assault after voluntarily turning himself into Norfolk Police early Wednesday morning.  At just after 1:00 a.m., 25-year-old Leonardo Rivas of Norfolk walked into the Norfolk Police Station and told officers he’d recently sexually assaulted a woman.  He identified the woman and officers responded to the  location and performed a welfare check.  The victim said she’d been sexually assaulted by Rivas a short time earlier.  She knew Rivas and told officers of the events leading up to the assault.  Officers questioned Rivas about the events and later arrested him for 1st Degree Sexual Assault. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
