Norfolk Fire Division Earns Class 2 Status
NORFOLK - The Norfolk Fire Division has been judged as one of the state's best according to the Insurance Survey Office. The office evaluates fire departments' entire operations including equipment, training, personnel, staffing and response times. Insurance companies use that data to determine business and homeowners' premiums. The office ranks fire divisions from 1 to 10 with one being the best. There are no Class 1 divisions in Nebraska, and Norfolk's is one of only three Class 2 divisions in Nebraska; Kearney and Omaha have the other two. Fire Chief Scott Cordes provided that information with his annual report to the Norfolk City Council at its meeting Tuesday night.
