Norfolk Fire Chief Gives Annual Report
NORFOLK - During the fiscal year that ended on September 30th, the Norfolk area had no serious injuries or death caused by fire – either to citizens or to members of the Norfolk Fire Division. Fire Chief Scott Cordes says that is the most important fact included in his annual report, presented earlier this week to the Norfolk City Council. Cordes says calls for service totaled 2,264, up about two percent from last year, and approximately 85-percent of those calls were for medical service. Cordes says the Fire Division is fully staffed at this time, with the news firefighter reporting for his first day on the job on Monday, December 16th. In his report, Cordes also discussed highlights of the Prevention Bureau, which includes building permits and code inspections, and Region XI Emergency Management, both part of the Fire Division.
