New Project to Promote Norfolk

Three entities in Norfolk are teaming up to promote the city through the "Norfolk Now" program. At a Friday news conference, representatives of the Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce, Norfolk Area Visitors Bureau and Norfolk Economic Development Council announced a multi-faceted approach to promoting the city and drawing in new residents. Courtney Klein-Faust, economic development director for the city of Norfolk, says the partnership just seems natural. The promotion includes a twice-a-year magazine, produced with the cooperation of Marathon Press and Huse Publishing; a web site, and television commercials that will air in the metropolitan areas. Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce President Dennis Houston says each piece will reach out to a different demographic. Houston says it is important to attract new residents to the city to meet the current employment needs and to replace the workers who are expected to retire in the near future.
