Neligh Deluged with 6 Inches of Rain Last Night

NELIGH - A storm one would expect in April or May hit the Antelope County community of Neligh last night, dropping more than six inches of rain in about three hours. Neligh City Superintendent Dean Bly says there was some wind and hail with the storm, too, and trees were blown over at Fred Penn Park. Bly says there has been lots of low-land flooding, with parks under water. He says there was street flooding during the storm, and many residents have water in their basements. Some of the worst damage occurred at Neligh-Oakdale Schools where flooding damaged a basement computer work room and the art room. Classes started two hours late at Neligh-Oakdale to give staff a chance to evaluate the damage and begin clean up.
