NECC expands welding program

NORFOLK -   A dramatically increased demand for welders in the area has prompted Northeast Community College officials to nearly double the capacity for the school’s welding program from 18 to 32.  Feedback from industry leaders indicates a high demand for trained welders.  Northeast’s welding program is nine months long and 80 percent of the training is hands-on.  Northeast placement officials report that the average starting pay for graduates of their welding program is almost $29 per hour.
