NECC budget addresses priorities
NORFOLK - The Northeast Community College Board of Governors has approved a preliminary budget for next year that supports the eight institutional priorities and helps better prepare students for the 21st century workforce. College President Dr. Michael Chipps says the goal at Northeast is to educate students in a fiscally responsible manner. College Vice President of Administrative Services Lynne Koski says she expects the final tax rate to be 9.93 cents per hundred dollars of valuation. She says that figure could change, however, since county treasurers in the college’s 20-county area won’t verify valuations until August 20th, and enrollment numbers that determine state aid won’t be final until early August. Koski says there is some growth in the budget for salaries and benefits for staff, to provide for growth in existing programs and to add some new programs as well.
