Nebraska Movie Premieres in Norfolk Monday Night
NORFOLK - Alexander Payne’s latest film, “Nebraska,” opened nationwide 10 days ago, but a special premiere of the black-and-white movie shot in Northeast Nebraska will be held Monday night in Norfolk. The event is sold out, and includes a champagne reception at Divots and the first Norfolk showing of the film at the Norfolk 7 Theatre. Payne will make remarks at the event, and organizers also expect actors Bruce Dern, Will Forte and June Squibb to attend the reception. The Paramount Vantage film is the fourth Payne has filmed in his home state. “Nebraska” is the story of a cantankerous father who believes he has struck it rich after receiving a sweepstakes letter in the mail. He wrangles his son into taking a road trip to claim the fortune. Footage for the film was shot in four states, including Nebraska. The communities of Plainview, Wakefield and Stanton are among the locations used in Northeast Nebraska.
