More than 2,400 Cans of Food Collected During Annual Souper Bowl

NORFOLK - The Salvation Army Souper Bowl concluded Friday morning at King’s Lanes.  Thirty-one teams competed, and raised 2,461 cans of non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army’s Food Pantry.  The Hy Vee East “King Pins” took the high score of 1281 pins, just one pin better than the Wisner-Pilger alumni.  A team called “Brown Sugar” won distinction with the lowest pin total: 663.  Hy Vee East also brought the most food items: 465; Affiliated Foods was second with 327.      Meanwhile, the “Bowling Beauties” won the prize for "Best Team Spirit" and the “Beauty Queens” were deemed to be the "Best Dressed."  The staff at Lite Rock 97.5 and 106KIX Country thanks Kings Lanes, Carter and the staff for facilitating the event, coming in early and donating the lanes, shoes and their time.  Thanks to Captain Dustin and the Salvation Army crew for morning refreshments and allowing Lite Rock 97.5 and 106 KIX Country to partner with them for the good of the Food Pantry.  And thanks to everyone who participated and for getting up early, coming out to have a good time, giving food donations and making the Salvation Army Food Pantry Souper Bowl a successful event year after year.
