More Money Allocated for Dry Wells

NORFOLK - More money is being made available to help residents whose domestic wells have been affected by the drought. At last night's meeting, members of the Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District board voted to allocate another $30,000 to help lower pumps, drill new wells or help residents hookup to public water systems. NRD Assistant Manager Ken Berney says the original $50,000 allocated for the program is nearly gone, so Board members have approved additional funding for the program. Berney says residents can apply for the cost-share AFTER the well work has been completed. For more information on the Domestic Well Assistance Program, contact your local USDA NRCS office.
