Man Arrested for Death of Grand Island Lawyer, Ex-Wife Also Found Dead

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) - A Nebraska man whose ex-wife was found shot to death has been arrested in the Wednesday night killing of a Grand Island lawyer who worked on their divorce.  Police say 58-year-old Michael L. Petersen of Glenvil faces first-degree murder and weapons charges for the shooting death of attorney Todd Elsbernd. Authorities believe the 52-year-old Ellsbernd was targeted.  Petersen's ex-wife, 58-year-old Nancy Petersen, was found shot to death Thursday morning in her home in rural Buffalo County. Buffalo County Attorney Shawn Eatherton says he expects to file a first-degree murder charge next week against Michael Petersen for his ex-wife's death.  Petersen was arrested near Hastings on Thursday evening. Police say he was armed, but offered no resistance.  A defense attorney for Michael Petersen wasn't listed in online court records.
