Madison Teen Arrested for Three Hit-and-Run Accidents
NORFOLK - A 19-year-old Madison man was arrested last night after he was allegedly involved in at least three accidents. Police Captain Michael Bauer says Moises Duarte was arrested after several witnesses reported his pickup speeding in the area of First Street and Pasewalk Avenue. Duarte is accused of hitting two parked vehicles on Blaine Street, and another vehicle in the street construction zone in the 100 block of North 1st Street. Bauer says Duarte’s pickup became high-centered in the construction zone, and Duarte fled on foot. When he was arrested, he was on the phone with the Norfolk Police Dispatch Center, reporting that his pickup had been stolen. Duarte was arrested for willful reckless driving, first offense driving while intoxicated, minor in possession of alcohol, three counts of leaving the scene of an accident, false reporting, refusal to submit to a preliminary breath test, refusal to take a chemical test and no proof of insurance. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later released on a cash bond.
