Madison man dies in Nebraska Penitentiary

LINCOLN - A 71-year-old Madison man serving three-to-six years in prison for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person has died while in custody.  The Nebraska Department of Corrections reports that Carlisle Briscoe died on July 16th. He had been treated for long-term health issues, but state law still requires that a grand jury investigate the death.  Briscoe’s sentence began on November 16th, 2012 and his projected release date was July 29th, 2015.
