Madison County commissioners select Melia as public defender
MADISON - The Madison County Commissioners have selected 29-year-old Kyle Melia as Public Defender. Melia will finish the term of current holder of that position, Melissa Wentling who resigned in June. Her final day on the job is Friday. Melia, who is currently the county’s chief deputy public defender, will be sworn in on Monday. The commissioners interviewed three other candidates: Charles Balsinger, Timothy Matas and Matthew Headley. Wentling was re-elected as public defender in 2010; Melia will complete the term, which is set to expire in January of 2015.
