Long Anticipated Business Coming to Norfolk
This time it is NOT a rumor - a Perkins Restaurant is planned in Norfolk. For years, area residents have buzzed about the possibility of a Perkins restaurant in the city, only to be disappointed time after time. But Courtney Klein-Faust, economic development director for the city of Norfolk, says Perkins has purchased a portion of the former Ramada Inn property, and plans to build in the northwest corner of the property. Klein-Faust says the tax increment financing made available because of a city council action a few weeks ago made the project feasible for Perkins. TIF money will be used to bring water and sewer to the site and for a public access road off Omaha Avenue. Klein-Faust says Perkins hopes to break ground on the project yet this year, and open the restaurant next spring.
