Hyannis, Wausa Crowned State One-Act Champions
NORFOLK - The first of three days of State High School One-Act Play Champions is in the books and two state champions were crowned Wednesday at the Johnny Carson Theatre. After four runner-up finishes, Hyannis is a state champion in Class D-2. Bruning-Davenport took runner-up honors. Ewing tied Bruning-Davenport for second, but lost on a tie-breaker. Landon Jutten of Wauneta-Palisade and Brandi Bailey of Haynnis were named outstanding male and female performers. In Class D-1, Wausa is a state champion for a seventh time in eight years. Nearly the entire student body put on the play “Oz.” Paxton took runner-up honors and Wausa’s Trevor McQuay and Morgan Kumm were honored as Outstanding male and female performers.
