Hoskins Man Will Remain in Legislature
SOUTH SIOUX CITY - A Northeast Nebraska State Senator who was appointed by Governor Dave Heineman has earned a term of his own. Dave Bloomfield of Hoskins defeated Van Phillips of South City, 61 to 39 percent. Bloomfield was appointed in 2010 to replace Bob Giese, who resigned after he was elected Dakota County Treasurer. Phillips is a member of the Northeast Community College Board of Governors. He did not file for election to that post this year, choosing instead to seek the Senate position. Arlan Kuehn ran unopposed for the College Board seat.
