Highway 15 Accident Sends Lyons Man to Hospital

CLARKSON -  A 35-year-old Lyons man has been hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.. following a two-vehicle accident on Highway 15 Saturday afternoon.  Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger says the accident occurred at about 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon about eight miles northeast of Clarkson.  Unger says David Semerad, 46 of rural Howells pulled his semi across a county road into the path of a southbound vehicle driven by Nathan Kiester.  Kiester was taken to the Schuyler hospital by Clarkson Fire and Rescue.  Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.  Unger credits that and the deployment of airbags for minimizing the severity of injuries.  The highway was blocked for about an hour as the scene was investigated and cleared.
