Hearing Held in Neligh on Proposed Pipeline Regulations

NELIGH - About 60 people attended a hearing last (Monday) night in Neligh to discuss special zoning regulations for pipelines in the county. In addition to those asking for the regulations, representatives of TransCanada attended the meeting. TransCanada is seeking a permit to construct a pipeline to transport tar sands oil from western Canada to refineries on the Gulf Coast. The proposed Keystone XL pipeline would travel across Antelope County from northwest to southeast. The zoning board discussed the process of creating pipeline ordinances, to be discussed at a future meeting, but no date was set for any discussion of the issue.
