Guilty Plea Entered In Norfolk Shooting
MADISON - A man accused of shooting and wounding a woman in her home in Norfolk last winter has pleaded guilty to two charges. Carlos Arevalo-Martinez, 34, pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and a reduced weapons charge on Friday in Madison County District Court. He faces up to 50 years in prison on each count when he's sentenced on October 17th. Arevalo-Martinez was accused of shooting Edna Gutierrez in the head on Feb. 14. He was taken into custody after a standoff with police in Stanton on Feb. 16. County Attorney Joe Smith says Gutierrez remains in a rehabilitation center.
