Grassfire Reported Northwest of Norfolk

NORFOLK- It took nearly 50 firefighters and 10 apparatuses to put out a grass fire in Norfolk. A fire at 4500 West Nucor Road was reported at about 5:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon. Norfolk Fire Captain Lyle Lutt said when firefighters arrived on the scene they reported a fire that covered an area of approximately 30 acres. Crews were able to protect the house and barn but winds blew the fire into the pasture, tree line, and cornfield. Two firefighter sustained minor injuries and a third was taken to Faith Regional Medical Center for evaluation where he was treated and released. The occupants were home at the time of the fire and the cause is still under investigation.
