Governor receives positive feedback about tax talks

LINCOLN - The state’s Tax Modernization Committee continues to meet across the state, taking a comprehensive look at how Nebraska funds government services.   Governor Dave Heineman tells us he is hearing about positive conversations taking place with the committee.  Heineman says any tax plan needs to include two things: property tax relief and income tax relief.  Heineman says a business-friendly tax structure would help create more middle-class jobs – those that pay between $60,000 and $100,000 a year.  The Tax Modernization Committee will meet in Norfolk Thursday afternoon, September 26th, in the Lifelong Learning Center at Northeast Community College. Citizens are urged to share their thoughts on tax policy with committee members at that time.
