Governor Hopeful for Tax Structure Changes
LINCOLN - Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman is still hopeful that some changes will be made in the state tax structure, even though his proposal to shift the burden from income taxes to sales taxes has received a great deal of criticism. Heineman told NewsTalk WJAG he appreciates all of the comments from Nebraskans on the subject. He says he still thinks the state needs to have a conversation on taxes. Heineman wants to eliminate about half of the $5-billion in sales tax exemptions in the state in exchange for eliminating both personal and corporate income taxes.
