Governor Helps Dedicate Heroes' Park at Norfolk Veterans Home

NORFOLK - A standing-room-only crowd packed the commons area of Norfolk’s Veterans home Thursday for the dedication of Heroes Park.  The new eight-acre pavilon is located on the grounds of the Veterans Home.  Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman gave the keynote address.  He said the park with the flag plaza, bronze statues and memorial tiles sets the standard for others to follow.  Norfolk Mayor Sue Fuchtman also talked at the event attended by an estimated 200 people.  She says the park as been a vision of the Norfolk community for a long time.  Heroes Park includes a flag plaza, bronze statues and tile memorials.  Organizers raised about $2 million for the project.
