Governor Brings Budget Talk to Norfolk
NORFOLK - Governor Dave Heineman visited Norfolk Tuesday and discussed issues including taxes, healthcare and education. Last week, the governor announced his intention to work with lawmakers to increase aid to the University of Nebraska and the state college system. Yesterday, he announced a similar proposal for the state's community colleges. Northeast Community College President Dr. Mike Chipps was pleased with the announcement and said Nebraska has done a good job of supporting higher education with funding increases over the last two years while other states were cutting similar funding by five to 10 percent.
