Good Neighbors Program Has Helped Norfolk-area Families for 47 Years
NORFOLK - Check out the front page of the Norfolk Daily News at this time every year and you’re sure to notice the daily gifts to Norfolk’s Good Neighbors program. Allene Johnson is the director for both Good Neighbors and the Norfolk Food Pantry. She says even though the Good Neighbors campaign runs from Thanksgiving to Christmas, the funds raised help Norfolk families throughout the year. Johnson says this is the 47th year the Daily News has sponsored Good Neighbors. As of yesterday (Thursday), this year’s Good Neighbors campaign had raised more than $44,000 of the $75,000 goal. You can drop off your donation at the Norfolk Daily News or mail your contribution to Good Neighbors, Box 1014, Norfolk. You can also drop off food items at the Norfolk Food Pantry on the corner of 4th Street and Madison Avenue. Food pantry hours are Monday through Friday from 9:30 to 11:30.
