Four hospitalized in Stanton County crash

HOWELLS - Four people were sent to area hospitals following a two-vehicle accident in southeastern Stanton County yesterday (Monday) morning.  The accident occurred at around 9:30 at the intersection of 824th Road and 575th Avenue, about six miles northwest of Howells.  According to Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger,  a northbound pickup driven by Jonathan Davis, age 24 of Howells collided with an eastbound car driven by Renee Utemark, 39 of West Point.  Howells and Clarkson rescue units took Utemark and one of her passengers, Chase Utemark, age 7 were to the Schuyler hospital.  Two other passengers in the Utemark car, Katie Sindelar, 33 of Lincoln and six-year-old McKenzie Smeal of Snyder were taken to the West Point hospital.  Unger says seatbelt use and full airbag deployment in the Utemark car is credited with lessening the severity of the injuiries.  Davis declined treatment at the scene.
