Fortenberry to Congressional Colleagues: "Don't Spend More Than You Have"

NORFOLK - Nebraska 1st District Congressman Jeff Fortenberry says the country is burned out over the constant drama occurring in Washington, particularly concerning the budget.  Fortenberry told WJAG News that Congress should approach budgeting the way Nebraskans budget for government, business and everyday life.  Fortenberry says it would serve the country well if Congress were to adopt what he calls the Nebraska Model: don’t spend more than you have, focus on fiscal discipline and deliver smart and effective government services.  Fortenberry says congress has made some big strides, but that it still has a long way to go before balancing the budget.  The Congressman says tax reform and reduced spending are the keys.  He says if congress does those things, it will help to decrease uncertainty in the economy and start to turn things around.
