Fortenberry opposes intervention in Syria, Fischer still undecided
Nebraska 1st District Congressman Jeff Fortenberry says he opposes a military strike against Syria, while Senator Deb Fischer remains uncommitted. Fortenberry says the civil war in Syria is an international problem, not a United States problem. Fortenberry prefers helping to ease the suffering in Syria in other ways such as coming to the aid of Jordan, which is having to absorb refugees from the war. Fischer says telephone calls and emails to her office are running decidedly against military intervention. She says President Obama should make his case in a public address and include a concrete plan for military intervention that includes the goals to be achieved and the strategy to be used to carry them out.
