Fortenberry, Fischer to Host Military Academy Day in Lincoln

LINCOLN -  How would you or your child like a free education from a highly ranked institute of higher learning?  That’s what is in store for anyone selected to attend one of the five military service academies.  As a representative, 1st District Congressman Jeff Fortenberry is tasked with nominating high school students to the academies.  Fortenberry says he and academy leaders are looking for young men and women with high academic achievement and strong leadership qualities.  Fortenberry and Senator Deb Fischer are hosting an event Saturday at Lincoln Southwest High School, 7001 South 14th Street, Lincoln from 9:00 a.m. to noon.  Fortenberry says even those who don’t think the academies are for them are encouraged to attend.  There will be a lot of information available from all branches of the armed services, for prospective enlisted members and officers.
