Flood Waters Push South Platte to Record Levels
NORTH PLATTE - Colorado flood waters continue to cause record crests along the South Platte River in Nebraska. Residents of North Platte are preparing for a crest a foot above flood stage tomorrow morning. Flood stage at North Platte is 12 feet. In Ogallala, officials believe the river has already crested at 11.5 feet, and the river level has receded slightly at both Big Springs and Brule. In Roscoe, the river hit a record 12.6 feet this morning, and water levels are expected to start falling later today. Crews are working to catch debris to protect homes and bridges along the South Platte in Nebraska. Flood warnings extend east to near Kearney.
