Flood Warning For Ice Jam Flooding
STANTON - A two mile long ice jam is causing flooding in a portion of Stanton County. Emergency Management Coordinator Sanford Goshorn says water is in the basement and surrounding one house three miles south of Highway 24 and four miles east of the Stanton-Madison County line. Meanwhile, another ice jam near Highway 15 in Stanton County had broken loose and moved downstream into Cuming County. There is the potential for the ice jam to redevelop upstream from West Point yet today. Goshorn tells 106KIX NEWS motorists need to avoid the areas -- it is extremely dangerous to drive cars through areas where water covers the road. The National Weather Service has issued a warning for ice jam flooding for western Stanton County through 8:30 tonight.
