Five Area Lenders Recognized by USDA

NORFOLK - Five lending institutions in Northeast Nebraska were honored Tuesday as Top 10 Lenders by USDA Rural Development’s Guaranteed Rural Housing loan program.  USDA Rural Development State Director Maxine Moul (rhymes with owl) says this has been a record year for USDA housing programs in Nebraska, with 74 approved lenders participating in Fiscal Year 2013. She says more than $124.2-million assisted 1,241 rural Nebraska households to achieve homeownership.  Banks honored were Midwest Bank in Norfolk, and Charter West National Bank, Pinnacle Bank, Bank First and First National Bank and Trust – all in Columbus.  Moul says USDA Rural Development home loans require no down payment. They are for a 30-year period with interest usually below 4.7-percent. She says there IS money available for loans in Fiscal 2014, and she encourages prospective homeowners to talk with their lenders or real estate professionals about the program.
