Fire Destroys Home Northeast of Norfolk

NORFOLK -  The Norfolk Fire Division was dispatched to a house fire northeast of Norfolk just before 1:00 Friday morning.  It took 45 firefighters and 14 rigs about two hours to control the fire at the home of Alex Wurdinger and family on Ridge Road, about eight miles east and three miles north of Norfolk.  Norfolk Fire Division Lieutenant Landon Grothe says the structure was a complete loss and there’s no known estimate of property value at this time.  Firefighters from Hoskins, Pilger, Hadar and Stanton assisted, along with the American Red Cross, Stanton County Sheriff’s office, and Stanton County Emergency Management.  Hy Vee East donated food.  No civilians were injured, however one firefighter sustained an injury.  The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
