Feedlot accident claims life of Norfolk man

NORFOLK - A 53-year-old Norfolk man who was killed yesterday (Monday) afternoon after he was struck and buried by a large falling silage pile in an open silage pit at Four Quarters feedlot east of Norfolk.  According to Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger, Matthew Winkelbauer was killed and pronounced dead at the scene and a 60 year old co-worker Weldon Marotz, Jr., of Stanton, was seriously injured in the accident that occurred at about 3:00 p.m.  Marotz was initially taken to Faith Regional Health Services by Norfolk Rescue and later taken by Life Net medical helicopter to an Omaha hospital.  Winkelbauer was the owner/operator of Four Quarters, which is located about three miles east of Norfolk off Highway 24.  The Stanton County Sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate.
