Estate Planning Workshop Set for Late January

NORFOLK - Many aging farmers and ranchers have some decisions they’ll need to make in the not-too-distant future, namely whether to sell or hand down their farm or ranch operations.  The University of Nebraska Extension office has an event designed to help those property owners to tackle those difficult decisions.  The Workshop on Estate and Transition Planning and Use of the LLC is part of the Farm and Ranch Succession Series.  It’s slated for Northeast Community College’s Lifelong Learning Center Monday, January 27th.  UNL Extension Educator for Madison, Pierce, Wayne and Stanton Counties, Wayne Ohnesorg says the agenda includes a look at business, family and tax issues.  Scheduled speakers include agricultural law attorney Joe Hawbaker, and UNL Beginning Farmers Program Coordinator Dave Goeller.  The workshop runs from 9 to 3 Monday, January 27th and includes a lunch break.  It’s free, they’d like you to pre-register by the 24th by calling the Rule Response Hotline at (800) 464-0258.
