Enrollment Numbers Up at NECC

NORFOLK - Earlier this week, the president of Southeast Community College reported spring enrollment down about 17 percent from last year, but at Northeast Community College, enrollment is up about two percent, with full-time student enrollment up four percent.  Northeast President Dr. Mike Chipps says that increase comes at the same time that the 60 schools in the 100 communities served by Northeast are reporting shrinking senior classes.  Chipps says his staff is also working on retention and student success, making sure those students who choose Northeast over other options leave with a degree and skills needed by today’s workforce.
