Deadline Extended for Domestic Well Assistance
NORFOLK - The deadline to apply for assistance in replacing a drought-stressed well has been extended to November 15th. Ken Berney, assistant manager of the Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District, says anyone within the 15-county district can get 50% cost share, up to $1500, if their domestic or livestock well went dry due to this year's drought. Berney says the drought brought up some situations that he has never seen before, and people continue to call the NRD for information on the domestic well assistance program. Those interested in the program should apply with their USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service before November 15th. Berney says the work needs to be completed by the end of this year.
