CVA Vice President Named Community College Association's Distinguished Alumnus

NORFOLK - The Nebraska Community College Association has honored an Elgin man as its Northeast Community Area Distinguished Alumnus.  Karl Hensley was presented with the distinction earlier this month at the NCCA’s annual meeting in North Platte.  Hensley graduated from Ewing High School in 1979, then attended what was then known as Northeast Technical Community College.  While at Northeast, Hensley studied under renowned ag instructor Chuck Pohlman and earned an associate of applied science degree in Agri-Business in 1981.  Following graduation Hensley worked in the ag industry in Missouri and Nebraska before taking a position in 1985 as agronomy location manager for the Central Valley Ag Coop in Elgin.  Today, Hensely is senior vice president for Central Valley’s main office in O’Neill.  Hensley says about 30 percent of Central Valley’s 125-person workforce are Northeast graduates.
