Commissioners Award Northeast Industrial Highway Contract to Iowa Firm
MADISON - The Madison County Board of Commissioners has awarded a $3.6 million contract to an Iowa firm that will complete the final four-tenths of a mile of the Northeast Industrial Highway north of Norfolk. Madison County Engineer Dick Johnson says Christensen Brothers of Cherokee, Iowa will finish the phase that links North 1st Street with Highway 81 and includes two bridges, one over the north fork of the Elkhorn River and another over a wetlands area. Officials expect work on the road to be completed this fall. When complete, it will provide an alternate route for trucks going to and from Nucor, Norfolk Iron and Metal, Louis Dreyfus Commodities and other businesses northeast of the city.
