Civil Air Patrol Suspends Search for Missing Couple

NELIGH - The Nebraska Civil Air Patrol has suspended its search for a couple missing for eight days in Antelope County.  According to Antelope County Sheriff Bob Moore, the couple, Amanda Makovicka of Orchard and Cory Wettlaufer of Inman were last seen Sunday Evening, January 5th near O’Neill.  They may be driving a White 1997 GMC Jimmy, with Nebraska license plate 36-K20.  Civil Air Patrol aircraft flew more than 25 hours in support of the Sheriff’s search for the missing couple. According to CAP’s Incident Commander Lieutenant Colonel Darrell Nelson, the aircraft conducted a grid search in an area bounded by O’Neill, Chambers, Orchard and Inman.  A CAP ground search & rescue team assisted with a five-hour search of county roads in the primary search area.  Sheriff Bob Moore says the sheriff's office will be following up on several leads this week.  If you have information on the missing couple or their vehicle, please call the Antelope County Sheriff’s Office at (402) 887-4148.
