City Sells Last of its Railroad Property
NORFOLK - The City of Norfolk has agreed to sell the last useable piece of abandoned Chicago & Northwestern Railroad property and two new triplexes will soon be built there. At this week’s meeting of the Mayor and City Council, a hearing was held to change the zoning on the property to R-3, multi family residential. City Prevention Manager Trent Howard told the mayor and council that R-3 is the logical use for the property, located in the 700 block of Queen City Boulevard. The council approved the zoning change, as well as the purchase agreement with Benjamin and Sarah Conover for $40,000. City Administrator Shane Weidner says only a few very small pieces of the former railroad property remain unsold.
