City, schools getting ready for fall sports

NORFOLK - Schools in the city of Norfolk are getting ready for students, with classes starting this week for Norfolk Public and Lutheran High Northeast, and next week for Norfolk Catholic.  The city is also preparing for the beginning of school, since all three high schools use city facilities for sports ranging from football to cross country.  Norfolk City Administrator Shane Weidner says there is a good partnership between the city and schools.  Weidner says the schools also support the city, especially through the turf replacement program.  At last week's meeting of the Norfolk City Council, approval was given to agreements with Norfolk Public Schools, Lutheran High Northeast and Norfolk Catholic Schools for use of the city facilities for football, tennis, cross country and softball.
