Chapman retiring after 41 years on Norfolk Police Force

NORFOLK -  Norfolk Police Captain Leon Chapman is hanging up his badge and weapon after 41 years with the Police Division. His last day on the job will be September 30th.  A retirement reception was held last night.  Chapman started on the night shift in 1972 and became an investigator in 1974, a detective sergeant in 1983 and captain in 1984. Chapman says some of the hardest cases for him to investigate through the years have involved children, especially when the victims were close to his own children’s ages.  Chapman says he plans to stay in Norfolk after retirement with his wife, Cindy. The Chapmans also have a daughter and son in Norfolk, and two grandchildren.  Don Miller has been promoted to the position of Captain of Operations to replace Chapman. Miller has been with the Norfolk Police Division since 1990.
