Cedar County Accident
HARTINGTON - A 35-year-old Lincoln man was injured in a one-vehicle crash on icy roads Monday morning in Cedar County. Nebraska State Patrol Troop B Lieutenant Dan Wilson says Gary R. Thompson was southbound in a 1997 Ford Explorer just before 6 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Highways 59 and 81. Wilson says Thompson lost control of his vehicle, which entered the west ditch of Highway 81 and rolled. Thompson was not wearing seat belts at the time, and was ejected from the vehicle. Randolph Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and transported Thompson to Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton. The collision is being investigated by the Nebraska State Patrol with assistance from the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office. Lieutenant Wilson reminds motorists to buckle up. He says properly worn restraints save lives.
