Candidates May File for Office with County Election Officials
MADISON - The 2014 election cycle officially kicked off in Nebraska Monday, the first day that candidates could file for office with their county election officials. Madison County Clerk Nancy Scheer says the filing process is fairly simple. Some candidates are required to fill out an accountability and disclosure statement, and some will be asked to pay a filing fee based on the annual salary of the position for which they are filing. All elected county officials except for County Commissioner Christian Ohl are up for election this year. In the city of Norfolk, Councilmen Dale Coy, Dave Fauss, Rob Merrill and Shane Clausen must face voters. And on the Norfolk Public School Board, terms of Brad Krivohlavek, Julee Pfeil and Bruce Mitchell expire at the end of 2014.
