CableOne Loses Turner Network Stations

NORFOLK - When you sit down to watch TV tonight, you might notice some of your favorite stations missing. CableOne has been unable to reach an agreement with Turner Networks to carry stations that range from CNN to the Cartoon Network. Patricia Newman, public relations manager for CableOne in Phoenix, says Turner has been asking for nearly 50-percent more for CNN, Headline News and other less-popular stations. The contract to carry those stations expired at midnight with no agreement reached, and they were pulled from the local cable lineup. But Newman says CableOne should have been able to carry more popular Turner stations, like TBS, TNT and the Cartoon Network, through an ongoing contract, but turner has disabled that signal.Newman says negotiations continue, and CableOne is hopeful that an agreement can be reached to restore at least some of the Turner stations for local cable subscribers. In the meantime, Newman says customers will automatically receive credit on their bills for the missing stations.
